floraAre Colonics safe?
Yes colonics are safe!!! A colonic can be safely administer every 24 hours.
In a gravity method colonic session the colon is retrained to work better on it own while simultaneously being rinsed out. If you are able to do an enema then you can safely get a Gravity Method colonic.
Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon hydrotherapy equipment?
All Certified Woods Hygienic Therapists are trained to sterilize anal speculum after each use. The use of proper sterilizing equipment and Woods Institute protocols ensure the client and therapist are protected. It is always beneficial to know that the therapist is trained by the Woods Hygienic Institute to ensure the correct protocol of sterilization is used.
Will Colonics Damage the Normal Intestinal Flora? NO! One of the functions of the first half of the intestines is to house the intestinal flora needed for the colon. The intestinal flora is disturbed when feces accumulates in the bowel creating encrustation. This allows unfriendly flora to proliferate affecting normal function of the colon, resulting in constipation. This also upsets the normal PH balance in the intestines. Cleansing the colon can help bring the acid/alkaline ration back into balance. In this environment, the friendly bacteria will again thrive and disease causing bacteria will find it difficult to develop.
How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment compare to an enema?
An enema only reaches the rectum and lower part of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy the entire length of the colon is reached and it is many more times effective. According to the late learned centenarian Dr. Norman Walker, “One colon irrigation is equivalent to 23 enemas".
Why Should I Get a Colonic?
The colon is designed to completely and naturally remove digestive and metabolic wastes from the body, yet the modern diet of cooked and processed foods combined with low water intake and stress has contributed to the buildup of layers of old fecal matter left in the colon. A colonic can help loosen up and remove impacted waste matter from the colon, as well as improve and even restore the healthy muscular action of the colon.
What Happens During a Colonic?
In the Woods technique of colon therapy a small sterilized speculum is inserted into the rectum after which water gently flows into the colon through a tube. The colon is never filled to capacity because the water is continuously flowing in and out. During the colonic the flow of water is intermittently halted from flowing in and/or out, after which the water immediately releases, carrying waste matter and gas out of the body through the tube, which leads directly to the sewer line. As a result of this set up there is generally no odor or mess. f
Are Colonics Painful?
No. If any pain is experienced it is a result of resistance and tension yet a professional colon hydro-therapist is skilled at putting you at ease and minimizing discomfort. During the colonic action it is common to feel some pressure, gas, and an urgency to evacuate. These symptoms are quickly relieved as the water and waste are released. Most people actually enjoy the colonic procedure feeling lighter and refreshed after their sessions.
How Many Colonics Do I Need?
The number and frequency of how many colonics a person should get depends on the individual and his or her health goals. Generally a minimum of 13-15 sessions is recommended in the first 2 months followed by a maintenance plan of one session every few months or one with every season. Of course, the number of sessions desired for maintenance will depend on the individual and their diet along with their current digestive health and will also determine how many colonics are needed.
How Will I Know When My Colon is Empty?
Your colon will probably never be completely empty, as it is an organ which is continuously in use. As more of the old, impacted material is released you will be able to feel the water enter higher regions of the colon. The objective is never to completely empty the colon, but rather obtain a well functioning colon.
Will a Colonic Clear up My Skin?
Your skin is an important organ of elimination of waste material. Sometimes, if the colon, liver and kidneys are functioning poorly, the skin will be required to make up the difference causing acne due to toxins being released. Cleansing the colon diminishes the burden placed upon the skin as well as the other organs of elimination: lungs, liver and kidneys. As this process of elimination is accomplished, the skin will very often clear up.
Who Benefits from a Colonic?
Nearly all of us! The colon is approximately 5 to 6 feet in length with a 2 quart capacity. Due to the standard American diet(SAD), erratic eating habits, and improper food combining, the average adult can have 5 to 20 pounds of accumulated waste in the colon. Most people with digestive issues can derive benefits from colon cleansing along with those with high stress, tense lifestyles, acne, fatigue, low back pain, etc. Those who would like to have more energy have reported a significant improvement after a colonic session. Colon problems such as colitis, ileitis and diverticulitis affect conservatively two million people in this country. These problems can be directly addressed by colonic therapy.
Who is Qualified to Perform a Colonic?
Colon hydro-therapists who have received certification and proficiency training through approved schools and/or instructors are recommended. These individuals will have successfully completed a curriculum that includes one hundred hours or more of hands-on instruction. Keep in mind anyone trained by the Woods technique(Gravity Method)from the Woods Hygienic Institute, one of the few colonic schools in the country, will provide you with the safest and most effective colon therapy session.
What if I am Unable to Release During My First Colonic?
Many people come in for their first session expecting the colonic to instantly release all the waste that has accumulated in the colon. When it doesn't happen, some question why should they come back if nothing came out the first time. When nothing comes out it means that it is a more "difficult case." The first job is to get the abdominal muscles to respond by creating what we call a "flow through." A "flow through" is the ability to eliminate or have material flow through the alimentary tract from mouth to anus without restriction. Dehydration could be a reason for a difficult first cleanse. If a client states they drink one quart or less of fluid daily, we know that the colon is probably dehydrated.
When Are Colonics Not Recommended?
Colon hydrotherapy should not be considered for clients who have recently had the following procedures or who have the following imbalances:
• Abdominal Hernia
• Abdominal Surgery
• Cardiac Conditions
• Intestinal Perforation • Lupus
• Rectal Surgery
• And More...
How Do I Prepare for a Session?
On the actual day of your session, eating and/or drinking mostly vegetables and fruits will put your body into a deeper cleansing mode. Eating a raw food diet and juicing a few days will help the client release even more. Remember to drink a lot of purified water to keep your colon hydrated. However, for two hours before your appointment, try to avoid eating or drinking as much as possible so that you're not digesting or needing to empty your bladder during the session.
ALL SESSIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY PLEASE EMAIL firstname.lastname@example.org email@example.com
"Not to cleanse the colon is like having the entire garbage collecting staff in your city go on strike for days on end! The accumulation of garbage in the streets creates putrid, odoriferous, unhealthy gases which are dispersed into the atmosphere." Dr. Norman Walker
